Comparing Natural Alternatives To Prescription Drugs

By Elaine Guthrie

The field of science has not been left behind in the current wake of modern technology; they have also come up with their own forms of modern medication and equipment. Modern medication also comes up with its own set of challenges and setbacks. It has been a blessing in disguise for some while to others it has been a total mess. In relation to these we compare natural alternatives to prescription drugs.

Natural alternatives as compared to prescribed drugs have the upper hand when it comes to side effects. They are known to have no or very minimal side effects as compared to prescribed medication. This is because other prescriptions are fully absorbed by the body because they usually are composed of all organic materials but prescription drug although they have been extracted from organic substance they contain additives which are not part of nature thus causing the side effects.

On a penny for penny comparison alternatives seem to always be cheaper than prescribed medication. An example is the use of exercise to cure depression as compared to using anti-depressant tablets to cure it. The cost of buying the tablets may be not so high but the cost of exercising is free since even a walk is exercise thus the two costs cannot be compared and the natural alternatives seems always cheaper.

Prescribed medication is specialized to treat very specific ailments, they are made to do very precise tasks and once their duty is done they are no more. This is not the case in these alternatives; this usually is because they are natural. Whenever they are taken in they not only carry out the prescribed task but also add other values to the body, like the beetroot plant its known to add more blood to the body but also helps in cleansing the blood something that if the prescribed medication had to do it would have to be a set of drugs.

An example of a these alternative that cures many diseases is the Aloe Vera; this plant is known for curing many diseases without any side effect recorded. Its known to be a pain reliever in case one has pains and its also known to cure skin rashes. In comparison to sulphur it does not have the burn effect whenever it is used on the skin instead it has a smoothening effect.

Going natural has an advantage when it comes to dosage. This is because in case one takes an excess of a prescribed drug an overdose is likely to occur and when one takes too little of the drug the desired effect of this drug is not likely to be achieved. This is because prescribed drugs are made for specific purposes and natures, on the other hand natural alternatives rarely have an under dosage or overdose like in the case of prescription medication.

Modern science is slowly accepting the use of natures remedies in its practice; this is seen currently by the use of the leach to suck up extra blood in an operation instead of the use of pumps.

Other alternatives are proving to be a source of refuge for most science practices since they have more merits than demerits; they tend to be more effective than some of the current methods.
