San Antonio Headache Sufferers Find Relief Through Chiropractic Care

By Hans Gerhard

There are a number of categories of headaches. There is some overlap in how they succeed in causing pain that can range from moderate to significant. For example, migraines are temporarily disabling. For those living in the region there is a prominent San Antonio Chiropractor who can help with pain alleviation.

The chiropractor will ask some questions that are necessary to evaluate the migraine headache. The individual must have suffered five or more episodes. They must have lasted anywhere from four to seventy-two hours. The pain was described as throbbing and often affects only one side of the head. Either nausea and throwing up or sensitivity to bright lights must have been present.

It sounds sensible that a sinus headache would go along with a sinus infection. It happens independently, however. The tension version is felt as a constant ache. It causes pressure around the head and back of the neck. It is thought to be caused by stress and possibly a chemical alteration in the brain.

Migraines strike more women than men. The cluster type, on the other hand, affects men more often. These appear with severe, disabling pain on one side of the head. The same side may have a watering eye and a runny nose, but, only on that one side. These happen in cycles.

The popularity of chiropractic intervention can be attributed to providing care that does not rely on medication. In fact, those who use excessive amounts of medication, either prescription or over the counter, may get rebound headaches. When the care given is massage and spinal adjustments, they do not occur.

As your chiropractor evaluates you, questions help to arrive at the correct conclusion. The type of headache indicates the course of care that will facilitate pain alleviation. When manual adjustments are found to be appropriate, a series of appointments are set up for them. Massage may be added to the care plan.

The value of chiropractic care lies in the fact that after the care regimen is complete, the headaches either do not occur again, or happen less frequently. The severity is usually reduced as well.
